William’s School serves a crucial role in our community. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that “about 1 in 44 children has been identified with autism spectrum disorder” (Source: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, CDC).
The William Mosing Center dba William’s School is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving neurodiverse children & young persons and their families in Austin since 2011. We currently serve families from more than 22 zip codes in Central Texas and maintain an enrollment waiting list that exceeds 20% of our capacity.
William’s School is the only accredited nonprofit school in the Austin area that serves students ages 2 -22 with intensive behavioral and communication challenges due to Autism Spectrum Disorder - without exclusion for severe behaviors, communication challenges, or complex medical needs.
Our students struggled in mainstream educational settings and benefit from the low-ratio, individualized instruction at William’s School. Our school started with four students, their concerned parents, and three teachers in a teacher's home. Hardly a decade later, we now deliver 63,000+ student hours of classroom instruction and 6,000+ hours of therapeutic services (behavioral, speech, occupational) annually. Mental health, social and recreational programming round out our almost year-round academic instruction and therapeutic services.
We believe that given the right support, every child will thrive.
Our highly trained and experienced teacher and therapist staff do an incredible job of meeting our students’ diverse needs. The COVID-19 crisis caused considerable interruption to the delivery of educational and therapy services to our students and drove increased school operating expenses due to swiftly rising staffing costs, goods, and services. Our support base - both earned revenue and fundraising that sustains our operations and programming – has eroded. Our immediate challenge is to retain our staff to minimize the disturbance and regression to our students and their families in the months ahead. Your generous contribution towards our Annual Fund will enable our school to sustain operations and keep our exceptional team intact through COVID-19 recovery.
