Dear Community,

We are so excited to have a space with a stage and can't wait for it to be filled with performing artists from all aspects of life. Here at Flux Vertical Theatre we are proud to be becoming a fully accessible venue. We truly believe that it is important to make our space accessible to people with disabilities, especially our stage!

Building a dance studio and theatre space from the ground up has been a challenge, no doubt, and we have learned so much. Among our lessons has been that of the world of ADA requirements that we must meet in order to be open to the public. Since we are considered a "new build" we are required to either have a vertical wheelchair lift or a 36ft ramp up to our 3ft stage. We have decided that it is in our best interest to be a dance space and not a ramp space!

We have personally called dozens of lift companies, each politely decline when we tell them we have a business in California. Apparently California has some of the most restrictive requirements for this type of vertical wheel chair lift and most companies can’t comply. We were also told that is it not just the cost of the lift itself but they also charge a huge fee for specialized installation including specific electrical and framing requirements and then you need to pay for specialized inspections and for a separate permit. And on top of that, every six months you have to get specialized maintenance with new inspections and permits. So this is not just a one time purchase but comes with a lifelong monetary commitment. We were also told that there is no such thing as a "used lift" and that these companies throw them out the second they remove them so you are forced to buy a new one.

Therefore we are calling out to our entire dance, circus and performance arts community to help make this happen. The sooner we can raise the money for the ADA lift, the sooner we can open our doors! Support us in supporting the disabled community.
