Hello!
Izzy and I attend Woodinville Family Preschool - it is a co-op school where parents work in the classroom and take an active part in their child's learning. This is our second year and Izzy is thriving there. She has made new friends and I have made friends with the other parents. It has provided us with a fantastic community and support system.
The school has all kinds of accreditation for their indoor and outdoor curriculum and I can say that they have earned it. We have themes that the whole school curriculum revolves around. For example, we just finished our music theme where the children put on music performances, made their own musical instruments each week, painted with music (the curriculum team gets creative!), we listen to various types of music while playing outdoors, shared the children's favorite songs, read books about music, and more. We are starting our weather theme when we get back from winter break and my ears are thankful since Izzy is currently experimenting with opera singing.
One thing that I both love and dread about the school is the cooking curriculum. I love it because our class of 3 & 4 year olds can cut with knives, grate, peel, measure, stir, and bake. They get as many fresh ingredients from the garden as seasonally available and the parents provide the rest for their healthy and creative snacks. I love the excitement the children have over helping to prepare their own snacks and how down-right GOOD they are at it! The dread part comes all from my own anxiety of prepping, timing, and watching a table full of children when it is my turn as the snack parent. It has stretched my abilities in a good way and helped me grow as a parent and person. The art table has also contributed to this - painting with fly swatters is still on my nightmare list curriculum team!!!
I cannot express enough how much this school teaches learning through play and has educational goals throughout without the children having any knowledge that things like hammering nails into a pumpkin works with their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
Izzy loves school and everything there, but if you ask her about her day, she will tell you all about the bikes, scooters, and tricycles. She's got a one-track mind (pun intended :) when it comes to her favorite things. The outdoor play - rain or shine - is the highlight of her day. There are bikes with ride-along steps that allow for 2 children to be on the bike and Izzy is often found taking turns with other children being the pedal person or the riding person.
Our school is fortunate enough to own its own property, however, the downside is that means that all repairs fall on us. We have a fantastic group of parents on the maintenance team that take care of all the day-to-day needs, however, we have reached the point where our roof is in need of replacement. Which is where we come to the reason for this fundraiser. Covid wiped out the school's reserve money for large expenses and in this area, roofs are expensive!
We would greatly appreciate any donation to the school to help us get a new roof!
Thank you for checking out our fundraising page and any support you are able to provide!
