UPDATE 12/18/23 - Thank you to everyone's support to get us over 10% of the way there, and now thanks you to the Triboro Ecodistrict for generously supporting this campaign with a $2,500 match for all donations which puts us at 60% of the way there if we can raise the final $1,975! Think Globally and Act Locally! The MCDC is working to raise the funds for all work to design, permit, and install an 11.34 kW rooftop solar system with racking, and microinverters. Funds will pay local employees at Pittsburgh-based solar installation company, Energy Independent Solutions. Together we can and will work to make our community more environentally sustainable, support good paying local jobs, and help ensure long-term fresh food access at the Millvale Market. The overall cost is $50,000 and the strategy involves raising money from the federal government tax credit program, applying for grants, and raising $10,000 with our community including this $5,000 in crowdfunding and $5,000 at a future fundraising event/raffle. Millvale is a federally designated Justice 40 community and a state designated Environmental Justice community, and also a nationally certified Ecodistrict community that has been working for over a decade to create a more equitable, sustainable community for all of us.
