Help the May Day Cafe Workers Cooperative Sustain and Thrive

Help us keep May Day Cafe healthy and strong so we can continue to be a Powderhorn hub for years to come!

Since February 2025, the May Day Cafe Workers Cooperative has been honored to steward this beloved community space as a worker-owned business, focused on workplace dignity, community connection, and affordable delicious food for our neighbors. We have been blown away by all the ways you have shown up for us and this cafe since summer 2024 when we first launched a campaign to buy this longstanding community institution, keeping it alive and running for you our neighbors and for ourselves as workers. We remain grateful and committed to honoring that support by pouring our love, hard work, and creativity into the cafe.

We also understand the reality of this economy: it is not structured for small businesses that prioritize agency and dignity for their workers, accessibility and quality for their customers, and respect for planet and people to succeed. We have to be creative to live alongside the reality of an oppressive economic system that encourages shortcuts and exploitation. In other words, we need each other. We imagine May Day Cafe as just one node in a bigger web that uplifts the values of dignity and agency for all people - places of gathering, feeding, and supporting one another. Your financial support will help us both hold down our node and cultivate this bigger web, a web of resilience for all of us.

Your donation will go directly to supporting the financial health and successful operation of May Day Cafe including:
1. Saving up for future maintenance and equipment needs (our 20 year old espresso machine isn't getting any younger...)
2. Bolstering our rainy day fund in case, you know, we have a car hit the side of our building again 😞
3. Supporting us to expand our offerings for wholesale and catering, space rental, event programming, and more!

Thank you! We are so grateful to be in community with you.
