Lazarus Medical Fund

Lazarus came to us on a quiet Monday, surrendered for what was believed to be a simple eye infection. The moment we lifted him from his carrier, our hearts broke. His tiny body was crawling with fleas. Mites were deep in his irritated skin. His fur was matted so tightly it pulled with every movement. His genitals were painfully swollen. He struggled to breathe. One of his feet dragged behind him like he was too tired to lift it.

And yet, even then, he pressed his head gently into our hands.
Even then, he chose trust.

Over the next two days we uncovered the full weight he had been carrying. Lazarus has mange, ear mites, and a severe URI. His scent glands and swollen skin had been sealed under mats. He needed hours of shaving and cleaning before he could rest without pain. He needed medication, nebulizer treatments, warmth and constant supportive care.

On Wednesday evening, after a morning scare with diarrhea, Lazarus gave us something that brought us to tears. A small cluster of perfectly round poops. A tiny sign of stability. A tiny sign of hope. A tiny sign that he wants to live.

Lazarus is still fragile, but he is fighting.
And we are fighting for him.

The Lazarus Medical Fund exists to support bunnies like him. Rabbits who arrive with severe medical needs, untreated infections, parasite infestations, respiratory illness, matted fur, dehydration and conditions that require immediate and ongoing veterinary care.

Your gift helps us cover:
• emergency vet visits
• medication and treatments
• diagnostics
• supportive feeding and hydration
• parasite treatment
• warm, stable recovery spaces
• long-term medical care for fragile rabbits

Lazarus is teaching us every day what courage looks like.
Your support gives him, and rabbits like him, the chance to rise.

Thank you for helping us continue this fight.
We will share updates on Lazarus as he heals.
