Second Chance Staffing Agency (SCSA) asks all citizens and organizations who support true public education to STAND UP NOW for our public schools. We must reject the dismantling and privatization of our taxpayer-funded common good. 100% of your donations support our efforts to 1) fight the diversion of public dollars to private entities and 2) achieve transparency and accountability from all schools that accept public funds.

Your donation is much needed, whether it's $10 or $1,000. Special interests have spent millions in Indiana over the last 11 years to promote their education "reform" and "school choice" agenda with unlimited resources for influence, marketing and staffing. Their agenda includes Education Scholarship Accounts (universal vouchers) for private/religious schools, more charter/innovation schools, virtual schools and more. While the special interests’ agenda promises equity and preaches parent choice, their real end goal is to privatize public education using Indiana taxpayer dollars. This agenda harms ALL Indiana public schools and their students.

Unlike the Astroturf organizations funded by unlimited wealth (the billionaires of Netflix, Walmart & Bloomberg - to name a few), we are a volunteer-run organization. We are parents, caregivers, teachers, principals, superintendents, school board members, students, retirees, clergy, current and former elected officials, taxpayers, community members, and organizations who have come together to amplify our grassroots voice across the state in support of public education.

We pay our own dedicated lobbyist, Joel Hand, who is our education policy expert and general counsel. Joel works at the Statehouse on behalf of all of us to support the priorities of our truly grassroots organization. Although it often feels like an uphill battle at the Indiana General Assembly, it is imperative to maintain a strong presence at the Statehouse with someone like Joel who:

consistently represents our vision, mission and beliefs,
speaks truth to power,
and faithfully and consistently presents our concerns and goals to our elected officials.

Grassroots organizing requires funding. We also incur costs to maintain our website, manage our database of volunteers and conduct outreach activities for our members across the Hoosier state.

Why is this important?

Hoosier parents overwhelmingly choose public schools.
Public schools are the heart of our communities and the bedrock of our democracy.
Public schools offer the most options and opportunities for students and deserve appropriate funding.
Public schools serve all students and must be adequately funded to do so.
