The Shades of Motherhood Network exists to address the social determinants of health by bringing care, culture, and connection directly into the community.

Our mission is to create accessible, culturally responsive, community-based care that supports the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—before crisis occurs. Our vision is a future where families thrive because they are supported by systems rooted in equity, prevention, and belonging.

A Community Hub in the Heart of Northtown Mall

Located at Northtown Mall, our community space removes barriers to care by meeting people where they already are. In this shared space, we have served over 750 community members, offering prevention-focused services that strengthen health, stability, and connection.

This model directly addresses key social determinants of health:

Our Three Community Care Spaces

🌿 Diverse Roots – Storytelling & Healing
Diverse Roots centers storytelling as a pathway to healing. Through art, circles, and shared narratives, community members process lived experiences, reduce isolation, and reclaim voice and identity—critical components of mental and emotional health.

📚 Sacred Wisdom – Educational Empowerment
Sacred Wisdom focuses on education as a tool for liberation. This space hosts workshops, trainings, and knowledge-sharing that build confidence, health literacy, and leadership—supporting long-term wellbeing and self-determination.

🤝 Common Ground – Economic Empowerment
Common Ground supports economic stability through workforce development, entrepreneurship, and resource navigation. Economic security is a foundational determinant of health, and this space helps families move toward sustainable opportunity.
