This winter our rescue struggled through a devastating distemper outbreak. With all revenue-generating operations shut down during this time, we were hemorrhaging funds on treatments, medical care/testing and operational expenses. We have been forced to close our daily spay, neuter and vaccine clinic. Now we are laser-focused on keeping the doors of our shelter from shuttering as well.
Now even if that happens, we will still continue with foster-based rescue operations, our TNR efforts and our ITAV K-12 Animal Science and Education program. In 2021, operating as an exclusively foster-based rescue we were able to adopt out 205 animals. Last year, in 2023, with our full shelter facility, we were able to place 679 animals into loving forever homes. The difference in the number of lives saved is staggering.
