Donations for Lydia

Lydia is a 7-week-old kitten who found herself at Screven County Animal Shelter with a degloved chin. A degloved chin is a severe injury where the skin of the jaw has been ripped away from the connective tissue and muscle. County shelters do not have the resources to treat injuries of this nature and therefore euthanasia was being considered. One of our volunteers who was visiting the shelter reached out to us, and despite already being overwhelmed with medical cases, we decided to find a way to save this sweet kitten. Lydia was seen by one of our amazing vets the next day and thankfully there was enough viable skin left to stretch back over her jaw and suture into place. Now we are waiting to see if the sutures will hold so that her skin can begin to heal. At only 1.5 pounds, this little girl has been through a lot! But despite her traumatic injury, she is eating, playing, and showing us just how resilient she really is.

We are not able to take on cases such as this without your support. In addition to her surgery, Lydia will have several rechecks over the next few weeks to make sure she is healing properly. Any amount donated is greatly appreciated. We will post updates on her recovery so you can see her progress.
