In loving Memory of Sophia Simmons

Sunrise: September 21, 1962 | Sunset: July 27, 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sophia Devora Simmons, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Sophia's life was a testament to resilience, creativity, and love. Her journey from Marks, Mississippi to Boston, MA, and finally to New London, CT, was filled with moments that touched the lives of many.

As a dedicated accountant for the Coast Guard, Sophia's professional life was marked by diligence and precision. Yet, it was her profound love for music, creativity, and her family that truly defined her. Whether she was crafting, sewing, or sharing the soulful sounds of The Gap Band and Michael Jackson, Sophia brought light and warmth to every room she entered.

To honor Sophia's memory, we are launching a memorial campaign. The funds raised will support initiatives that reflect her passions and values, including community support, arts, and education—areas where Sophia's impact will continue to be felt.

We invite all who knew Sophia, and those who have been touched by her story, to contribute to this campaign. Every donation, no matter the size, helps continue the legacy of a woman who gave so much to others.

Your support will ensure that Sophia’s spirit lives on in the services, projects, and causes to those who need it the most.
