YMCA of Greater Whittier Back to School

Dear Community Members,

As the new school year approaches, the YMCA is excited to host our Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway. This day brings joy, confidence, and essential school supplies to 90 local youth in need. We’re reaching out to ask for your support in making this event a success.

Each year, we see firsthand how something as simple as a backpack filled with supplies can lift a child’s spirits and ease the burden on families. With rising costs, many parents are struggling to afford the basics. That’s where our community comes in.

How You Can Help

We are currently seeking donations of school supplies or financial contributions to help us provide:

• Backpacks
• Notebooks and folders
• Pens, pencils, and crayons
• Glue sticks, scissors, and rulers
• Any other classroom essentials

Monetary donations will be used to purchase supplies and ensure every child receives a complete set of tools to start the school year strong.

Ways to Give

• Drop off supplies at the front desk of either East or Uptown Whittier.
• Make a financial donation - Click above or drop off a check/cash at the front desk. Be sure to leave your name and email.
• Sponsor a backpack – just $25 fills one with everything a student needs!

Your generosity will directly impact children in our community, helping them feel prepared, supported, and excited for the year ahead.
