In August of this year Jessica tragically lost her husband to a severe medical issue. Cathy, her aunt, an RN at Vassar Brothers took her in and they resided in an apartment in Valatie. Early on the morning of 12/21/22 Jess awoke to find smoke under the door and flames over the door. Cathy then woke to the smoke detectors to find the entire house filled with smoke and fire. They lost everything including their beloved pets.

They will be staying with family temporarily until new housing can be obtained.

Our Community Cares is assisting the family by coordinating collection efforts to help them during this traumatic time in their lives.

All funds collected will be distributed to Cathy and Jessica and are 100 percent tax deductible to the extent of the law. OCCI does not pay any staff nor keep any fees.

Our Community Cares, Inc. was formed by a local group of concerned citizens who have stepped up to help those in need in the past. These have ranged from residents losing their homes to fire, illnesses, tragic accidents and financial hardships. The desire was to create a central organization that responded quickly and effectively to residents in need.

Our community has always come together and collectively responded when the need arose. Our Community Cares, Inc. wishes to continue this response but in a more structured and organized environment to provide a more measured and appropriate response when the need arises.
