My name is Hudson Dunkle, and I first tried crew as a “learn-to-row” kid before 8th grade. I was forced off the couch when my mom signed me up for Pegasus until I was able to row for Conestoga. What started as something I didn’t really choose turned into something I can’t imagine my life without. Four years later, I’m starting my last season as captain of the team.
Crew has taken up about a quarter of my high school life. With early mornings, freezing practices on the water, long erg workouts, and more volunteer hours than I can count. There hasn’t been a day that crew hasn’t been part of my routine in some way. And honestly, I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Crew has given me more than anything money could buy: my best friend, confidence, structure, and a small but welcoming community that always shows up for each other. I’ve tried to give back by spending over 100 hours helping at learn-to-row programs, volunteering at regattas ranging from the high school level all the way to Olympic-level events, including the inclusive Bayada Regatta, and by serving the team as captain.
Now I’m asking for your help.
Your support goes directly toward boats, equipment, travel, and keeping this program strong and accessible for new rowers. You’re not just donating to a team — you’re helping give future kids the same chance I had to find something that pushes them, grounds them, and gives them a place to belong.
Thank you for supporting Conestoga Crew and the rowers who come after me. It truly means more than you know.
