In 2023 Monica Kenney was serving as the Cedar Hill ISD Education Foundation's Immediate Past President and Vice President of Development. She was greatly respected and loved by her fellow board members. Her unexpected passing has left a hole in our hearts and in our leadership team. We will always remember her for her warmth and her ability to get important things accomplished.

Monica's contributions to the growth and improvement of the Foundation were many fold. For example, She was a leader in the effort to restructure the foundation to follow the successful structure used by larger Education Foundations in the area. This change increased the district's support and opened significant opportunities to receive corporate grants. It also helped the foundation to more effectively meet the identified needs within the district.

Monica also championed finding new ways to gain the public's financial support. She was very active in the implementation and expansion of the Purses with Purpose fundraising event.

Founded in 2002, the Cedar Hill ISD Education Foundation is an independent non-profit organization. Since our founding, we have disbursed over $1,000,000 to benefit the CHISD! Included in this figure is the $41,955 given to CHISD for the Waterford Oaks Elementary Playground Project.
