Join the NOIAW Greater Washington DC Region for an unique author talk with Anita Bevacqua McBride. Chief of Staff for former First Lady Laura Bush, Anita was a 2012 NOIAW Greater Washington DC Wise Woman. She is a founding member of the First Ladies Association for Research and Education (FLARE), affiliated with the American University School of Public Affairs, and co-author of Remember the First Ladies: The Legacies of America’s History-Making Women along with Diana B. Carlin and Nancy Kegan Smith.
McBride is an internationally recognized expert on first ladies and the operations of the White House. Before this book, the trio also co-authored a first of its kind textbook, U.S. First Ladies: Making History and Leaving Legacies, which fills a long overdue gap in academic literature on the study of first ladies and their influence in history.
You might enjoy reading the book in advance, and discover how First Ladies have shaped the US Presidencies, and how relevant - and understated - their role is. Books are available on Amazon, at Politics and Prose (202-364-1919), and at the White House Historical Society (202-218-4300).
Admission fees: $15 Members | $25 Non Members
Please register by Friday, November 8. Please note that the event will take place in a private location in Upper NW Washington DC: the address will be shared, upon registration, a few days in advance. Refreshments will be served.
