The Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1996, is recognized as the pioneering and only Museum in the United States dedicated exclusively to modern and contemporary Latin American and Latinx art and culture. Accredited by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM), MOLAA is more than a museum; it is a place of diversity, equity, and inclusion, where innovation, creativity, and learning take place.

MOLAA’s mission is to expand knowledge and appreciation of modern and contemporary Latin American and Latinx art through its outstanding collections, groundbreaking exhibitions, stimulating educational programs, publications, and cultural events that engage the local, national, and international communities.

As the custodian of one of the more unique and culturally significant art collections in the United States, MOLAA holds immense cultural wealth. By its function and unique position, the Museum has become a leader in the preservation, study, promotion, and education of the depth and breadth of Latinx and Latin American Art in the nation. MOLAA is charged with conserving, protecting, and displaying Latino and Latin American Art and preserving its rich heritage, which might otherwise be lost to private collectors or to time itself.

MOLAA’s strategic vision and goals— to connect audiences to creativity and knowledge; to promote and preserve the institution’s collection of Latin American and Latinx Art; to support the growth, study, documentation, and dissemination of the Museum’s exemplary collection as an instrument of knowledge; and to promote institutional visibility and economic sustainability;— serve to preserve and promote the rich artistic heritage, diversity, and relevance of Latin American and Latinx art while serving as a bridge for greater intercultural understanding and appreciation.
