The Walter J. Lopus Wilderness Educational Fund (WEF), Inc. was founded with a simple yet profound mission: to make nature-based education accessible to children from all backgrounds. Why Nature-Based Education?

Who We Serve
Our scholarships are dedicated to supporting youth in our communities—the students who need alternative, nature-based education the most but for whom cost may be a barrier. These scholarships make it possible for families to access farm and forest schools that offer smaller, inclusive learning environments, guided by educators passionate about fostering each child’s potential in an outdoor setting.
