I recently returned from Moshi, Tanzania, one of Africa's poorest countries. There, I had the privilege of meeting some incredible young women. It was a privilege because witnessing the joy in the smiles of those who possess so little was genuinely heartwarming.

In Tanzania many girls are discouraged from succeeding because they lack some of the basic needs like sanitary hygiene supplies. We were able to provide them with reusable/washable pads that had been lovingly sewn and put together by volunteers prior to our trip.

While we were at the school you see pictured above, the girls were so excited to receive the bags with two sets of hygiene supplies, underwear, and a few other nice things for them to enjoy. One girl in the back stood up and asked, "How can we learn to make these ourselves?" I was moved by her desire to become self-sufficient and committed to the donation of a sewing machine for their school so they could learn to make the hygiene supplies themselves and they wouldn't have to wait for groups like ours to bring them.

$500.00 would only buy a basic machine in the U.S., but it will buy a machine in Tanzania that will serve this school and the many girls who will learn to use it for many years.

Your generosity could make a significant difference in the lives of these young ladies. Rather than missing school for a week a month due to lack of sanitary supplies, they can become educated and move their communities and country forward.
