NUNU Celebrates Vibrant Year & Launches Campaign for Cooler Summers in 2025

NUNU Arts & Culture Collective, a vibrant, volunteer-powered non-profit organization, is celebrating a banner year filled with diverse cultural exchanges, artistic expression, and community engagement.

A Year of Rich Experiences:

Thanks to the unwavering support of its community, NUNU has hosted a remarkable range of events in 2024, fostering cultural exploration and artistic growth:

  • French/Creole: From the premiere of "Mavis: One Simple Sentence" to Creole language tables with Herbert and Sue Wiltz, NUNU provided platforms to celebrate and learn French and Creole traditions.
  • Film Screenings: Documentaries "Intentions" and "Pentecost Mass" sparked conversation and reflection.
  • Musical Delights: Performances by Dustin Gaspard, Bo Brien, and the Babineux Sisters filled NUNU with music and joy.
  • Art Exhibitions: Showcasing local talent, NUNU hosted exhibitions by Camille Leanain, Ken Broussard, and many more.
  • Cultural Gatherings: Drum circles, Indigenous tables, songwriter circles, and Socrates tables offered opportunities for connection and dialogue.
  • Art Education: Classes and workshops in Plein Air painting, life drawing, and children's art nurtured creativity.
  • Artists in Residence: Lisa DiStefano, Suzy Savoy, and other talented artists enriched the NUNU community with their artistic journeys.
  • Campus Enhancements: Cypress trees, native plants, and a new screened porch on the Broussard cottage beautified the NUNU space.

Investing in Comfort:

While celebrating these accomplishments, NUNU acknowledges the growing need for improved air conditioning. To ensure a comfortable environment for future events and activities, NUNU is launching a campaign to raise $42,000 (target of $50,000) by June 1, 2025. These funds will be specifically dedicated to installing air conditioning and attic insulation to combat the Louisiana heat.
