We didn’t ask Zucchini Fries why she crossed the road. Maybe the chicken was taunting her from the other side? Truthfully, she TRIED to cross the road. She didn’t make it to the other side.

Zucchini Fries was found by Animal Control in West Virginia, dragging her hind legs after being hit by a car. She was in terrible pain, and her injuries were so severe that she was brought to the shelter to be euthanized.

But one kindhearted shelter director couldn’t let that be the end of her story.

A plea for help was sent out, and when we saw the video, we knew we had to try. Courtney — loving mom to The Broken Tuxedo Clan™️ — offered to open her heart to one more… yes, another paralyzed tuxedo.

Zucchini Fries arrived at the clinic Friday afternoon, where she was immediately given pain medication and x-rays. The news was tough to hear: a fractured and displaced pelvis, spinal trauma, and bruising from her ribs to her tail. She's hurting — but she's still fighting.

There’s a glimmer of hope. With time and healing, she may regain use of her left hind leg. But her right leg is badly damaged and will need to be amputated. For her to have any chance at walking again — even on three legs — she needs surgery as soon as possible.

The cost for her surgery is around $10,000. It’s a big number, but it’s the only way we can give her a shot at the future she deserves.
