2022 Stay Away From Tobacco Fundraiser

International Youth Tobacco Control is a 501(c)3 nonprofit led by 200 students across eight countries that works to prevent teenage tobacco use globally. From working with Disney to prevent on-screen smoking to incorporating tobacco awareness in local curriculum in the Philippines to working with the World Health Organization to ban tobacco sponsorships in Formula 1, your help has enabled us to protect our generation from the harms of tobacco. Legislatively, we have passed HR 2339 in the House of Representatives, spoken at state senate press conferences for SB38, and campaigned in Los Angeles and Hollywood, all of which have impacted 15 million adolescents.

We must address teenage smoking because an overwhelming number of middle and high students—five million—reported vaping, according to the U.S Food and Drug Administration. To prevent this number from rising even more, IYTC is conducting surveys to identify underage tobacco abuse, advocating for laws that will prevent youth from being confronted with tobacco and vape products, and hosting educational activities with our “Be Smart, Don’t Start” series in the US and “Tobacco Free Around the World” series in Kenya, South Africa, and Indonesia. You can learn more about us at www.iytc.org.

IYTC is entirely run by youths for youths, which is why I’m asking for your help in our mission.

This summer, IYTC is holding the fundraiser 2022 Stay Away from Tobacco, and it is the first to be run by one of our interns! We would love for him to have a great experience with IYTC, and if you could donate—even a couple dollars—to help support our cause, we will be able to influence more youths around the world. You can find our active “2022 Stay Away from Tobacco” campaign on our webpage at www.iytc.org/donate. Because we are a 501(c)3 nonprofit, anything you give is tax deductible. Furthermore, if you donate, you can be recognized on the IYTC website as one of our benefactors.

What we’ll do with your donation:

- Continue our work by beginning an online video series for parents about the harms of teenage tobacco use and how to initiate conversations with their children

- Further our internship program to offer young leaders a chance to learn about nonprofit management and tobacco control
