Fund Freedom - Praxis Initiative 2026 Fundraiser

After six years of tireless advocacy, we won a historic achievement: independent prison oversight in Arizona (SB 1507, signed June 28, 2025). But oversight was just the beginning, and we've expanded or mission based on that victory.

Praxis Initiative is Arizona's only criminal justice reform organization led by people who've experienced the system from every angle—formerly incarcerated individuals, former correctional staff, and families of incarcerated people.

Glenn E. Martin said: "Those closest to the problem are closest to the solution, but furthest from the power and resources."

He was absolutely correct. We have been working dilligently to remain close to the problems and fight for the solutions we know to will resolve the issues, the second half is where you come in. We need your support, your donation is the power and resource we need to stay in the fight.

Executive Director John Fabricius brings fifteen years of incarceration experience, over a decade of litigation and deep policy experience, and proven legislative success. He's currently co-administering the Fairness and Accountability Integrated Responsibly (FAIR) group—a bipartisan coalition initiated by Representative Kyhl Powell (R-LD13) that includes lawmakers, citizens, attorneys, organizations, law enforcement, county attorneys, ADCRR, and the Governor's office. This group is collaboratively developing substantive criminal legal system reform legislation for the 2027 session, and John is instrumental in its leadership.

J and Jessica, both formerly incarcerated, are working in multiple areas on reforms. Additionally, Jessica brings years of expertise as a capital mitigation specialist, and J specializes in drug policy and harm reduction practices.

Mindi is a retired 26-year ADCRR veteran—CO III and counselor—who understands the system from inside the uniform and is using that knowledge to inform policy.

Sherri is the mother of two sons. One is halfway through a thirty-year sentence. Her other son passed away from the impacts of his incarceration. Sherri is opening doors previously closed through her unyielding perseverance and grace.

We understand this system from every angle—incarcerated, correctional staff, and family—giving us unique credibility and comprehensive insight that other organizations simply don't have.

We're grassroots-funded. Your support drives legislative research, coalition coordination, and community education. We're positioned well and executing our mission, but we need your support to keep the momentum going.

Your contribution brings us the power and resources to stay closest to the solutions.

Thank you.
