In Person

Location details are private and will be sent along with your ticket purchase.

Join us and Legendary folk artists "Magpie" for a night of musical storytelling, emphasizing the experience of John Brown and the five African American raiders on Harpers Ferry, WV in 1859. There will be visual art by artist Dr. Doris E. Hughes-Moore, an ancestor of one of the raiders, as well as live performance art by local Hudson Valley Dance Group "Psi Fire." There will be a crafted cocktail hour with hors d'oeuvre inspired by local ingredients. A four course dinner will be made by local chefs, and there will be table talks with affiliated non-profits. A promotional meet and greet will be held with filmmakers, Terry Leonino, Greg Artzner and famed actor Danny Glover. All proceeds for this fundraising gala event will go to raise financial support for Peggy, Tina and the wonderful volunteers at "Beacon Community Kitchen" to continue to serve our community, as well as "The Learning Farm" of Ithaca, NY and its associated organizations whom are focused on food education and supporting black farm land ownership. This event is sponsored by "The Yard in Beacon" and "John Brown Lives!" The tickets are priced on a sliding scale for inclusivity.

Food Justice is Liberation

Dear Friends,

Thank you all for your support and donations thus far for this important cause. Due to this year's harvest, and budgeting circumstances, we are choosing to postpone this fundraiser to November 9th. We want to give our community more time to plan ahead and attend our gala while also giving ourselves ample time to source appropriate supplies and food for the quality dinner we want to serve.

Any donations that have already been made will be passed along immediately. Buying a ticket for November 9th will allow us to plan ahead for the gala. We are so grateful for your support of Beacon Community Kitchen and The Learning Farm. We will see you this Fall!
