Ron Simons, celebrated film and Broadway producer, was a NewFest board member since 2017 and a cherished member of our community. His career as a film and theater producer focused on championing Black and LGBTQ+ representation on stage and on screen, and the impact of his work will continue to be felt for – and inspire – generations to come.

As a member of the NewFest board, his support and generosity were crucial to the organization’s growth and expansion during his tenure, and we will miss his smile, energy, and kind soul that uplifted everyone around him.

To celebrate Ron and his legacy, NewFest hopes to raise funds to support our programs and future generations of queer filmmakers and producers. We extend our deepest sympathies to Ron’s family, as well as our appreciation for their encouragement and support in this project.
