Braidz N' Thangz & Beauty of Character Fundraiser: Promoting Power, Purpose, and Poise!
Salon Know-How Educational & Training Institute’s Braidz N’ Thangz Internship Program (http://braidznthangz.org/) provides at-risk young females ages 18-24 with hands-on training and experience in braiding, natural and textured (Black) hair care, and cosmetology; with a focus to reach those from the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) diaspora.
The Braidz N’ Thangz Internship Program addresses the following areas:
*Provides an alternative pathway for those who may have considered turning to the sex trade for work, leading to sex trafficking and exploitation.
*A solution for families and young adults who would like to pursue vocational training by creating paid opportunities to learn while overcoming financial hardships.
*A resource for those who want to learn about natural and textured (Black) hair care, which isn’t taught in traditional cosmetology programs.
*We understand the importance of good mental health and self-esteem and provide counseling and education to participants to develop their interpersonal and intrapersonal skills through “The Beauty of Character” curricula.
*The Braidz N’ Thangz Internship Program is entirely free of charge for participants.
We have made progress in improving the lives of those in need, but we request your help to continue pursuing our mission. Your generosity would allow us to continue offering the Braidz N’ Thangz Internship Program and making a difference for our at-risk youth.
We accept financial contributions and donations of goods, supplies, and services. No amount is too small! For more information or to donate, please go to https://www.braidznthangz.org/donate.html.
