Millard West Show Choir began when the school opened in the fall of 1994, under the direction of Michael Janis. Our program started with one choir with 30 members. Today we have 3 choirs and over 180 students involved.

Swing Cats competes in the Prep Division and has 59 members. Director, Drew Firkins.
Uptown competes in the Trebel Division and has 43 members. Director, Jordan Newhouse.
West in the Groove competes in the Varsity Division and has 50 members. Director, Zack Bjornsen.
One cannot forget the backbone of the choirs, our show bands! Show Band has 29 members with many more also being members of a choir.

Millard West Show Choir has become a leading program in the Omaha metro under the direction of Zack Bjornsen. Mr. Bjornsen joined Millard West Show Choir as the director of Uptown in 2010. He then moved to head show choir director and WIG director in 2013. He and his team of directors, choreographers, and musical arrangers have helped grow the program to be the largest activity at Millard West High School.

While our program has a rich history of winning, that is not the focus of our program. Millard West Show Choir has a core value of love. The program has a slogan, 'It's a Love Thing'. Whether it's during rehearsal, being seen out in our community, or competing at a regional competition, we do it with love for ourselves, for our group members, and for the audience touched by our performance.

Here is where you come in. Millard West Show Choir hosts an annual competition in January, Music Lives. This large event takes support from our community members, our friends and family, and connections far and wide. You can be a sponsor of the event, be a friend of Music Lives, or purchase Ad space in our program. Over 3,500 community members will attend our event and see your sponsorship, advertisement, and company name. Any amount will help us reach our goal of $35,000!
