PARTNERS WITH THE MTS SICKLE CELL FOUNDATION
TO EMPOWER HEALTHCARE NAVIGATORS!!!

We at Sickle Cell Medical Advocacy Inc. (SCMA) are excited to announce our partnership with the MTS Sickle Cell Foundation, a significant collaboration aimed at enhancing advocacy and awareness for the 100,000 individuals living with sickle cell disease in the U.S., primarily within African and Latino communities. This partnership marks a pivotal step in our mission as the MTS Sickle Cell Foundation has committed to sponsor two students annually over the next five years with $1,500 for training as certified Sickle Cell Healthcare Navigators through SCMA’s comprehensive ten-week online program.

This initiative equips volunteers with essential skills to navigate complex healthcare systems effectively, ensuring better patient advocacy and support. Each navigator will participate in a rigorous year-long monthly training program to hone practical skills and will be responsible for advocating for four patients annually to fulfill their obligations. Upon successful completion, navigators receive a certification recognizing their critical role in patient support.

To date, SCMA has trained 94 navigators, with 92 operational across 23 states. We are committed to expanding our reach, as evidenced by our navigators who dedicate over 8,000 volunteer hours annually to support the sickle cell community. With more than 300 patients currently enrolled in our program, our goal for 2025 is to deepen our impact through further partnerships with Sickle Cell organizations nationwide.
