The mission of the Austin Black Physicians Association (ABPA) is to empower current and future Black physicians to provide compassionate, human-centered care in our communities. This reflects a commitment to fostering more equitable healthcare in the Greater Austin area, especially for Black families.

ABPA provides multiple opportunities for our network of Black Physicians to get involved within the local community.

We aim to support, promote, and encourage the mentorship of medical and premedical students within the African American community. This is achieved through the provision of scholarships and shadowing programs.
By collaborating with various organizations and institutions, we work towards decreasing health disparities. This involves targeted efforts to address the root causes of these disparities, with the ultimate aim of fostering a more inclusive and accessible healthcare system.
We are committed to creating collaborative avenues for engagement that contribute to the overall health and wellness of both the community and healthcare providers. This involves fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility for well-being.
The nonprofit structure allows the association to operate with a mission-driven mindset, prioritizing social impact over financial gain.

ABPA provides multiple opportunities for our network of Black Physicians to get involved within the local community including physician membership engagement, fundraising campaign for student mentorship programs, and community health promotion activities.
