Supporting the Arts in Our Hometown
For more than 50 years, the Arts Council of Henderson County has worked to nurture, advocate for, and celebrate the arts right here at home. We believe the arts are part of what makes this community so special. They bring people together, tell the stories of our region, and give our neighbors, young and old, a way to connect, create, and share in something meaningful.
A big part of our work focuses on making sure local children have the chance to experience the arts. Through our Artists in Schools Program, professional artists visit classrooms across Henderson County to lead hands-on workshops in visual art, music, storytelling, theater, and more. These experiences help students discover their creativity while supporting the talented artists who live and work in our community.
Each spring, we celebrate the creativity of our youngest artists through the Mentors & Students Art Show, featuring artwork from kindergarten through 12th grade students across Henderson County. For many students, it’s the first time they see their work displayed in a public exhibition, a moment that builds confidence and encourages them to keep creating.
During the summer, our Arts Summer Camp for K–5 students gives children a chance to explore different art forms in a fun and welcoming environment. Campers paint, build, move, and experiment while learning that creativity is something everyone can enjoy.
In addition to youth programs, the Arts Council helps keep Henderson County’s longstanding arts traditions alive. We organize and support events that bring thousands of neighbors and visitors together each year, including:
Art on Main, one of the longest-running outdoor art festivals in the region, celebrating over 65 years of showcasing talented artists.
Music on Main, our beloved summer concert series that fills downtown Hendersonville with live music and community spirit.
The Saturday Night Street Dances, a Hendersonville tradition that has been bringing people together on Main Street for more than 100 years.
These events aren’t just entertainment, they’re part of the fabric of our town. They celebrate creativity, support local artists, and help keep Henderson County a vibrant place to live and visit.
