Action Academy is Common Power’s transformative 10-week civic leadership program for college-age students focused on voter education and democratic action. Launched in 2020, we’ve graduated more than 200 students from over 100 colleges, with impact across the nation and throughout diverse communities. Of these students, ¾ are BIPOC and a similar number are female-identifying. Academy students learn from political officeholders, civil rights heroes and advocates, nationally renowned educators, and then take action! In 2023 alone, students engaged in 1,301 action hours of text banking, phonebanking, attending crucial political events, and participating in comprehensive training sessions and educational lectures. In 2024 American democracy is on the line, and Gen Zers know it and are ready to work: Action Academy is on track to receive roughly 200 applicants for our summer 2024 cohort, our largest ever. These participants are taking action to shape our future–but they need your support.
We seek to raise $300,000 to empower these young leaders and to shape the future of our democracy. All Action Academy donations are to our c3, Common Power Future, and thus fully tax-deductible. The future is now: please please join us by making a gift today!
Your tax-deductible contributions go directly to support Action Academy in these three ways:
A $1000 stipend is provided to each student who completes the Academy! We know that summer internships are a privilege and must be made accessible to all students regardless of socioeconomic status.
Honoraria are paid to our guest speakers, including civil rights heroes, educators, professors, activists, and organizers. Their wisdom is priceless.
Sponsorships for Action Academy participants to travel to participate in CP’s educational voter-mobilization trips across the country. These are transformative, concrete experiences of civic action.
It’s 2024 and we have A LOT of work to do. Please support our work and these young leaders as we create a more just and inclusive democracy.
