HOW DO I ADOPT A TREE?

Click the orange, adopt a tree button at the top of the page. Tree adoptions are $180 for an annual-one time adoption or $15 a month for 12-months. Residents in the US and Canada will receive all of the items listed above. For those living outside of the US and Canada, you can now adopt a tree for a one-time annual donation of $150. You will receive everything listed above with the exception of the three bars of heirloom chocolate mailed by Caputo's Market.

When you adopt one of the criollo cacao trees from BFREE's farm, you support BFREE's goals to restore tropical rainforests, as well as HCP's mission to preserve fine flavor Heirloom cacao varieties for the conservation of biological diversity and the empowerment of farming communities worldwide!

*Please note that chocolate bars from Caputo's Market will not be chocolate made at BFREE. Our beans are not ready for production at this time. All chocolate will be heirloom cacao certified and supports other heirloom cacao farmers worldwide.

RESTORING TROPICAL RAINFOREST ONE CACAO TREE AT A TIME

BFREE has embarked on an experimental cacao agroforestry project on the BFREE reserve to restore degraded patches of land and explore the environmental, social, and economic benefits of shade-grown organic cacao as a tool for conserving and restoring tropical forests. In 2016, BFREE's wild criollo cacao trees and chocolate received "Heirloom Fine Flavor" designation from the HCP. Today, after much hard work, close to 10,000 criollo cacao trees and an equal number of native shade trees have been planted in a diverse agroforestry system at BFREE. Together, HCP and BFREE aim to have 100 of these recently planted criollo cacao trees adopted at BFREE's farm.
