After the Birthquake Inc is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports women and families who have experienced birth trauma as well as any type of trauma or complications within the perinatal period.

We are located in Rhinelander WI, but have also served families who reside in vilas, forest, and marathon counties.

We provide support groups, education, and advocacy surrounding complications/trauma in the perinatal period. We hope to also offer care packages and one on one support in the near future.

We are hoping to secure more funds for proper space for our groups, materials, a phone, etc.

As most of you can tell we live in a maternal/perinatal healthcare desert. It’s hard enough to get standard care and support even when you don’t have any complications or trauma. Imagine how difficult it is when you do.

As someone with lived experience with birth trauma/maternal near miss, I can tell you it’s extremely isolating and can tear your whole life apart. I can tell you it doesn’t just effect the person who lived it, it effects their partner, their older children, etc.

That is what makes our work so important. That is what makes our expansion so important. Our community needs this type of group. Our community needs expanded support groups covering birth trauma, maternal near miss, early pregnancy loss, late term loss. We need support groups for partners who witnessed the trauma. We need support groups for the kiddos who see their parents having a hard time.
