The Notre Dame Wrestling Club was founded in 1990 at Notre Dame College Prep by Coach Augie Genovesi. The program was created to give our local youth valuable wrestling experience before entering high school and is part of the Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation (IKWF). Over the years, countless young athletes have come through the club, achieving success at both youth and high school levels. Wrestling has provided them with confidence, self-esteem, discipline, and commitment.

Coach Genovesi has devoted countless hours to building the program and supporting its athletes. Since its inception, wrestlers from the club have contributed to more than 500 dual victories. NDCP has won 11 regional titles in the past 15 years, and in the last two seasons alone, as a clear direct result of our independent wrestling room, five wrestlers earned All-State honors, including one State Champion. Additionally, three athletes have been IKWF runner-ups, and eight have qualified for the national team.

For the past 15 years, the club has trained outside of the high school due to limited space in the high school facilities wrestling room. For the last seven years, both the high school and youth club have practiced at our Edison Park facility. We now have over 100 boys and 20 girls in our programs. What began as a seasonal winter program has since grown into a year-round operation, though this expansion has brought increased expenses for rent and utilities.

Looking ahead, our goal is to continue strengthening both our facility and our athletes. With the help of this fundraiser, we hope to cover ongoing costs and create even more opportunities for young wrestlers in the community.
