Annual Fund 2023 - The Path of Excellence

The Altamont School is on a continued path of excellence, positioning itself to become the premier independent school in our region. On August 18, our doors opened for the 48th school year, with 380 students representing many areas across our community, all converging on our beautiful campus in Birmingham. The success that is the Altamont Experience is composed of many paths connecting in this one, very special place: Paths of Diversity, Interest, Opportunity, Success, and more.

Paths of Diversity

Students, alumni, faculty, and our whole community have come to Altamont via different paths - from feeder schools, different counties, or even different states or countries, as first-generation Knights or through legacy families. We are united by Altamont's mission to improve the fabric of society by graduating compassionate, well-educated individuals capable of independent thinking and innovative ideas.

Paths of Interest

What draws families to Altamont? Their interests. This school provides many unique offerings for each student who enters our doors - college preparatory experience with a fully staffed College Counseling Center, language enrichment including French, Spanish, Latin, and Mandarin, The C. Kyser Miree Ethical Leadership Center, multiple Fine Arts opportunities, athletic teams, and an array of co-curricular options.

Paths of Opportunity

100% of Altamont graduates are accepted to colleges and universities across the country. With Altamont’s guidance, rates of college acceptance and assistance are hugely increased from the first day of a student's time in our community.

Paths of Success

Daily Advisory periods for all Altamont grades, led by faculty members in very small group settings, ensure that students are constantly supported and directed toward successful outcomes. This tradition of priceless, personalized enrichment is uniquely Altamont.

Your Investment in Altamont

All of these paths are maintained by investment. The Altamont School provides a high-quality educational experience at a competitive tuition rate, but tuition does not fully cover the actual cost of providing the Altamont Experience. Each year, the Annual Fund appeal addresses this gap, asking our parents, alumni, grandparents, and friends to give back to the school that has given so much to each of them. This year's gap in funding is $1,316 per student.
