In February 2023, our team came together to create Tamarisk Community with a unified mission: to support young adults transitioning out of foster care through job training, life skills, mentorship, and access to the Gospel. Over the past year, we’ve been planning, fundraising, and learning from our community. While our initial plan was to launch a coffee shop alongside the community, God led us to start with the community first.

This November, we are excited to launch Tamarisk Community, offering a place for young adults to belong, heal, and find support. Inspired by stories like that of Kristen Thomas, who experienced foster care and once lived out of her car, we are driven to create a space that provides connection, refuge, and friendship—a place to be seen, known, and loved. Kristen shared:

    I remember just wanting a place to go for connection and normalcy and didn’t realize how many hours in the day there were to fill when being truly alone.

Young adults aging out of foster care face overwhelming challenges, including homelessness, vulnerability to human trafficking, increased rates of incarceration, and difficulty finding stable employment. Through Tamarisk, we aim to change that by creating a safe, supportive environment where these young adults can grow and thrive in all areas of life.

To make this vision a reality, we need your support. We are seeking $5,000 in new monthly donations to cover essential expenses like rent, utilities, meals, and community-building experiences.
