Leadership Sunnyvale - Applied Materials $15,000 Matching Grant

Leadership Sunnyvale is delighted to announce a collaborative donation drive. Applied Materials Foundation Community Fund has graciously allocated a matching gift of up to $15,000 to Leadership Sunnyvale. 

Maria, a recent Leadership Sunnyvale graduate said she wasn’t sure she was “leadership material" when she signed up. Nine months later, she had met city leaders, toured local schools and nonprofits, and worked with colleagues on a project that addressed the challenges of emigrant entrepreneurs. Now, she’s helping shape the very community she once felt was sidelined.

And right now, the Applied Materials will match every dollar you give—up to $15,000. That means your $50 gift becomes $100 of leadership training, community connection, and real-world change.

There are several donation levels that we suggest:

• $10,000 covers the cost of the ULl Urban plan program.
• $3,200 covers  the TUITION for TWO students in the Leadership Sunnyvale Program.
• $2,000 covers the cost of the Poverty Simulation Program.
• $1,600 covers the TUITION for ONE student in the Leadership Sunnyvale Program.
•  $800 covers HALF of the TUITION for ONE student in the Leadership Sunnyvale Program.
• $400 covers the cost of a breakfast and lunch for one day of the program.

The UrbanPlan Program allows participants to experience the complex process of urban development by working in teams to respond to a fictional development proposal. The program's goal is to provide a realistic simulation of the development process to foster critical thinking and a deeper understanding of the trade-offs involved in creating communities.

The Poverty Simulation Program is an full-day interactive immersion experience that mirrors a participants month in poverty. The experience brings to life a low-income family's daily struggle to keep a roof over their head, pay bills, repair the car and feed their children.

Leadership Sunnyvale offers opportunities for individuals to be part of a year-long program that covers leadership exploration, enables participants to partake in civic tours, and introduces them to community leaders.
