WALK & FUNDRAISE

Story

Walk with Kay's Cottage on September 26 and help raise critical funds for our work on behalf of child victims.

As part of the SHINE campaign in Pennsylvania, CACs across the state are forming teams for a fun virtual/remote (and some in-person) walk events. Here in Armstrong County, we'll be walking together on Monday, September 26.  Meet us at the corner of Grant & Market Street below the Courthouse at noon to get some great pictures to share on social media. Want to join? Scroll down for instructions on how to add yourself to our team roster and ask for donations to support your walk on behalf of Kay's Cottage.

We're working up some special Kay's Cottage SHINE t-shirts for walkers/fundraisers. If you plan to join us on Sept. 26 and will raise or give $20 or more, please complete the t-shirt order form here. Deadline for t-shirt orders is Aug. 26.

SHINE: A Campaign for Courage

Led by National Children's Alliance and hosted in the Keystone State by PennCAC and participating Children's Advocacy Centers, SHINE is a campaign to support victims and survivors of child sexual abuse and raise awareness about the work of Children's Advocacy Centers (CACs). This year, we're shining a light on the courage of kids to disclose abuse; of survivors to overcome trauma; and of individuals to take a stand against child sexual abuse in their communities.

In September, we are hosting remote/virtual walk events to raise important funds for participating CACs. When CACs are involved in the response to abuse, child victims have a much better chance of growing up to "shine" as survivors.

Visit our SHINE site to learn more and find additional ways to support the work of Children's Advocacy Centers to stop abuse and help kids heal.

Who We Are

In 2016 as part of our work to support those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault victims, HAVIN enhanced their services to children by establishing Kay’s Cottage, Armstrong County’s Child Advocacy Center (CAC). The CAC coordinates the local response to alleged child abuse, bringing together prosecutors, law enforcement, children and youth, mental health practitioners and medical experts to provide comprehensive services focusing on the well-being of the children and non-offending caregivers. Child sexual violence impacts every community, join us in raising awareness and helping communicate to children and others that we will work together to SHINE a light on child sexual abuse and take it out of the shadows.

Kay's Cottage is an Accredited Member of National Children's Alliance.
