The Art Center of the Bluegrass is beyond excited to announce Maker’s Mark’s Private Selection Bourbon honoring the legacy of Stephen Rolfe Powell and the GLASS National Art Museum. This collectors-item Bourbon was given a zippy yet smooth taste by a group of eight Powell friends and enthusiasts who worked with Maker’s master distillers to create Zippy Honey Blaze, a name that suggests the vibrant, colorful nature of Powell’s glass pieces—and of Powell himself, an avid bourbon drinker.
To add a unique flavor to a single barrel of Maker’s fully matured Bourbon, the group chose 10 wooden staves from among 5 virgin oak choices, each of which enhanced the naturally occurring tastes of the Bourbon. The group finally settled on 5 staves of Roasted French Mendiant, 3 staves of Toasted French Spice, and 2 staves of Maker’s Mark 46.
We offer this first release of 50 Private Selection bottles to Bourbon enthusiasts and collectors.
