CREATIVE WACO'S ARTPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM

Empowering young creatives. Transforming our city.

"Whenever I feel insignificant, I drive past the mural we painted to be inspired and remember that what we do makes a big difference." – ARTPrenticeship Alumni

Each summer, a diverse group of talented high school students from McLennan County are selected through a competitive application process to work as paid apprentices alongside professional, local artist mentors. They gain hands-on experience managing a creative project from concept to completion, designing and painting large-scale murals that bring new life to our community.

For many participants, this program is life-changing—80% are the first in their family to consider post-high school education or training pathways. Through ARTPrenticeship, they build confidence, expand their portfolios, and discover how their creativity can open doors to new opportunities. They also connect with business owners, sponsors, and community leaders, seeing firsthand how art can transform people and places for the better.
