Aurora Winter Warming Shelter

The Aurora Winter Warming Shelter which is operated by Becoming Church, is a vital lifeline for our neighbors experiencing homelessness. Located at 712 S River St, we open during dangerous winter weather to provide warmth, safety, compassion, and community.

But the need doesn't stop at a 32-degree threshold, and we don't want our compassion to depend on the forecast. We must diversify our funding to be able to open our doors to be able to meet the arising needs of our vulnerable neighbors. 

Community-powered support gives us the flexibility to: 

• Open on dangerously cold nights even when temperatures don't meet the 32° requirement
• Offer practical help like phone access, transportation, and basic necessities
• Increase capacity and provide hospitality that honors the dignity of every guest
• Strengthen sustainability so we can serve whenever the need arises... not just when thresholds are met
