TLI, along with its platform provider Higher Logic, has further developed the Autism Knowledge Gateway to expand its AI capabilities for the Library feature. New features include an AI summary that searches all the blogs, library entries, and discussion threads and provides you with a summary of your query.

No autistic person should suffer due to a lack of access to basic medical knowledge. Yet today, countless families and healthcare providers struggle to find trusted, peer-reviewed information to guide care for autism and its many medical comorbidities. The Autism Knowledge Gateway (AKG) was created to change that. Your donation directly supports the development of an AI-powered library and collaboration platform that is making research more accessible, building bridges between doctors and families, and ensuring that what is already known in the medical literature reaches the people who need it most. THE CHALLENGE

With Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) now affecting 1 in 31 children in the United States, we are now facing crisis in the delivery of effective and informed medical care for ASD patients. A surging population of autistic children and adults are seeking care from providers with little to no formal training in ASD, or the many co-occurring conditions experienced by these patients.

The gap comes at a high cost to the entire community. Despite disproportionately high levels of spending on ASD patient care, providers are ill prepared to address their complex needs, resulting in unnecessary suffering, reduced life expectancy and wasted resources.

THE DISCUSSION

While there is still too much we don’t know about autism, we have the power to fundamentally change medical care conversations, today, by putting what is known about autism treatment in the right hands at the right time. Through a series of heartfelt stories and an informative panel discussion, we will illustrate severity of the care gap, discuss near-term solutions and share our vision for new and higher standards.

THE OUTCOME

With the launch of the Autism Knowledge Gateway, we can make critically important medical information about common conditions more accessible to ASD patients, providers and caregivers.

The Autism Knowledge Gateway is a dynamic resource in development. It aims to provide clinicians, parents, and educators with access to a robust and easily searchable repository of thousands of peer-reviewed research papers, comprehensive information on available programs and resources dedicated to supporting ASD families, and a collaborative chat room within the Gateway to facilitate in-depth private discussions of case studies and current research among clinicians, as well as supporting open chat rooms for more collaborative discussion.

TLI’s Senior Advisors and Fellows are thought leaders & innovators across the health community from the U.S and around the world. Our founders worked together in public and private sector roles and sought to create a nonprofit entity that would enable greater research, transformation and collaboration in a “safe space.”

Our strategic clinical and educational partners range from Mayo Clinic and Harvard University to the Veterans Administration and Midwest Business Group on Health.

TLI supports the Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins University, and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), and the Bridging Advanced Developments for Exceptional Rehabilitation (BADER) Consortium which supports the University of Delaware, Harvard, and the Mayo Clinic.
