This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to make an impact on a new and determined nonprofit in the Chequamegon Bay/Northwoods area.  The Auxilia Initiative supports first responders and their mental health by providing free early mental health intervention, training, and other support.  While The Auxilia Initiative has only been an officially formed organization since July 2023, its impact has continued to grow.  The Auxilia Initiative has had a big first year-we have hosted sessions for first responders every month; supported multiple first responders with individual sessions in response to crisis events; provided training on PTSD in first responders; hosted a first responder appreciation event; hosted our first softball tournament fundraiser; and attended multiple outreach events in the community and with local first responder departments.  Our 2024 goals are to increase our therapist volunteers, bring EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) training to the Chequamegon Bay Area, and increase the number of first responders we serve.  All of our therapists are volunteers, so all of the funds raised help us reach our goals by funding operating costs and assisting with training for our therapists.
