The Invitation

We would like to invite you with our full hearts and bodies to be a part of our fertility community.

We are two queer, gender-expansive humans with deep roots in social justice and service to our communities in Central Oregon and beyond. One of us is BIPOC, multiracial, and non-binary. Another is transfemme and white. We are both neurodiverse. We are survivors of many stripes, and actively promote the well-being and safety of the most marginalized and in-need of our communities.

We each have led lives committed to the well-being and growth of children and young people—from teaching, mentoring, facilitating youth creative communities, and serving as a youth and adolescent family therapist, to previous co-parenting experiences in non-traditional, non-monogamous, and non-nuclear family formats. We both have manifested our commitment to the future in the form of youth for some time, and now feel called to do so in the form of a biological child, together.

Who We Are and What We Believe

We believe in a liberatory future that honors, safeguards, and celebrates authenticity of all types—gender, sexuality, spirituality, cultural, and beyond. The future we envision and seek to co-create with you is—and must be—built on foundational values such as equity, intersectional justice, multi-dimensional access, and radical love.

One of these forms of love is a generosity based in the full-hearted acknowledgement of mutual interdependence. From this can stem abundance, prosperity, and an evolution based in humility and reciprocal relationship with one another, other-than-human beings, and the land.

We believe human community is naturally and ideally meant to be diverse and intergenerational, and that it is essential to centralize descendants’ experiences as well as their and elders’ wisdoms in preparing all of us for the dramatic transformations necessary to meet the near and further futures in as radically present and principled ways as possible.

The future that we want and need starts now in each moment, with us. We determine our individual and collective values, seeking out likeminded and hearted people, and together take action one moment and day at a time to manifest those values into a shared reality. The future starts and continues with us, and then by and through our descendants. And with the realities of political polarization and systemic stresses alongside accelerating climate change, our intention is to begin conception tries as early as January 2023.

Our goal is to raise $7,000.

Prior to gender transition, Avery froze and banked their reproductive elements at UCSF in California. We are seeking to raise funds in order to make it possible for us to conceive as naturally as possible with the support of a queer/trans-allied OB/GYN at the University of Washington in Seattle. These funds will make a number of conception attempts possible by making the following costs financially accessible to us:

Pre-conception laboratory testing and other preparatory activity to increase the likelihood of fertility success
Lab storage fees and other “extraction costs” from cryo-storage for each set of specimens used in each attempt

Transfer of specimens by cryogenically stored courier ship from San Francisco to the University of Washington in Seattle and preparing specimens for optimal fertility use
In-office fertility procedures, and other auxiliary costs including travel to and from Seattle, WA.

We can only co-create this future with your help. We cannot do it without the material and non-material support of our community. We invite you to be part of this intimate incarnation of co-creating the loving and affirming, equity and justice-promoting future that we all deserve. It starts today. It starts here.
