We are the ANTI-VIOLENCE PARTNERSHIP of PHILADELPHIA (AVP). Since 1983, our mission is to reduce the entire cycle of violence by providing a wide range of free support services, ranging from victim advocacy to professional trauma therapy, for youth, adult, and family victims of violence and co-victims of homicide to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of violence. We provide comprehensive and collaborative programs throughout Philadelphia at our offices, in schools, social service agencies, the courts, and at community sites.

Philadelphia has exceeded 500 homicides since January 1, 2021 (and the calendar year is not yet over). In the past year, the waitlist for our free counseling services increased by over 600%. Our services are urgently needed, but government funding is not keeping up with the demand for our services. We need the support of our community to continue to provide services for victims and families.

Last month, we were able to reopen our West Philadelphia office for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. At a time when all of our lives have changed, we are proud to reopen that pillar of support in the community. In 2022, we want to expand our network of support to address the rise of violence due to the pandemic and lack of resources.
