Awake is a beautiful organization led by some really courageous and beautiful lay people who work very hard to bring awareness to the full reality of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church, actively work to address the issue and help bring survivors together where they can find healing in community. There is no other organization in the country doing the work of Awake and because of this, Awake has grown to include survivors from all over the world and is continually growing in the sheer number of survivors they help. As someone whose life was forever altered by diabolical spiritual, psychological and sexual abuse by a Catholic priest, I can tell you that the healing I’ve found in my life simply would not be the same without Awake.
