I came to this country like many Latino immigrants: with dreams, fear, and a desire to move forward. At first, I only focused on working and adapting, but over time, I found a cause that truly touched my heart—the reality of HIV in vulnerable communities. It was through volunteering that I learned many people live with the virus without access to resources, information, or support. I heard stories of migrant women afraid to seek medical care, LGBTQ+ youth facing discrimination, and older adults who felt invisible. I got more involved—supporting campaigns, promoting awareness, and most importantly, listening. I learned that stigma can hurt as much as the virus, and that everyone deserves health and dignity. Today, I know that change begins with small actions, and that raising your voice is also a way to heal.
