Reading and Literacy for Deaf Children

Many Deaf children in the Philippines do not get early intervention causing them to not acquire sign language and reading/writing skills at a young age. This causes their academic development to be significantly delayed, not able to comfortably read and write even into adulthood, and lacking language skills required for learning and career opportunities.

The elementary education curriculum does not provide sufficient exposure to reading and school libraries are mostly empty or non-existent or are otherwise not providing reading materials that are interesting to students.

Seeing the struggle that these individuals have in their teenage and adult years and the lack of reading programs and materials at home and at school, we partner with schools to provide reading/literacy in early elementary grade levels as both in-school and after-school programs backed by educational technology, AI-enabled resources, and digital and physical book libraries. We have dedicated Deaf/signing teachers who not only teach students to learn to read but to love to read as well.

Your contributions will fund wages for the teachers and provide educational software and reading materials in digital and print formats.

Together, we can help Deaf children acquire both sign and written language skills and unlock life-changing opportunities in the future.
