The Anne Saxelby Legacy Fund (ASLF) was formed in 2021 after Anne’s sudden passing. As the founder of Saxelby Cheesemongers in NYC, she fervently believed that good food can change the world. In her honor, ASLF provides monthlong, fully-paid apprenticeships for students to live on sustainable farms—to work, learn, and be inspired to create positive change in their communities and beyond. ASLF affords a unique opportunity for young adults to immerse themselves in the heart of the sustainable American food movement by providing life-changing experiences in an inclusive and equitable manner: ASLF supports all wages, travel, and lodging, which puts the program within reach for everyone.

Our apprentices work on farms from coast to coast, urban and rural, where they help produce fruit, vegetables, cheese, beef, poultry, and fish. The farms serve as a gathering place, a food source, an opportunity for continued education, and a connection to nature.

ASLF’s goal is to bring hands to farms, educating our apprentices in all areas of sustainable food production, agriculture, and the environment. Our participants are then supported by our newly-formed Alumni Advisory Council, a group of esteemed advisors who will help establish pathways towards sustainable projects and new businesses for years to come. Our hope is that this cohort will be a part of setting the new standard for American food and agriculture.
