Meet Caius

Caius has been incarcerated for almost 18 years, but he sees his daughter regularly, often once a month.

What Caius loves most about his daughter is her creativity and charisma. “She loves to smile, she loves to laugh — she reminds me of me every time I look at her,” he says. She’s a competitive dancer, and Caius can’t wait to trade dance moves with her at the Father-Daughter Dance. “We’re very competitive,” he adds with a smile.

Still, he carries the weight of what he’s missed — her first steps, first days of school, and so many milestones. “I don’t take pride in that,” Caius admits. “Every day I wish I could be there to guide her and watch her grow. She’s amazing.”

For him, even wearing a suit for the first time will be meaningful. “It makes me feel proud, something I’ll smile back on later in life,” he says. What he wants most is simple: “I want my daughter to think she has a great father — one who’s trying to be there in her life.”
